One week to go
One week from now (Ryanair willing) I’ll be on a flight to the UK. I’ll spend a couple of days visiting family, and then head to Cardiff for PyCon UK - my first ever PyCon! I’m excited, and nervous. Keen to meet other Python people and learn more, and a little worried I’ll be out of my depth. We’ll see.
Also - maths! Man, ma heid. This morning I’ve been studying calculus, and tangent lines, the ‘derivative of a function’. I did all this at school, but it’s been a loooooong time. And this time it’s starting to make a bit more sense and actually be quite exciting to see what you can do.
That said, boy do I need to work on the basics, especially simplifying equations. the teacher would break it down in three steps, say, and I then spend the next two hours working out how the heck he got from here to there. I suppose it is too obvious for most students and would hold things up if he broke down what is ‘2+2=4’ for many students. And I guess I learn better because I spend so long scratching my head and surfing the internet!
