Am I writing this by myself?

Four weeks in, five to go, and there has been an outbreak of AI madness among the class. Given that we’re supposedly studying to be AI experts, it’s maybe surprising it’s taken this long, but this week we all installed Copilot for free on a six-month student offer. There have been gasps of amazement as copilot writes big chunks of code – I have to admit it’s pretty amazing.

I’m not sure how helpful it will actually be to someone who is still learning. But it could speed up a lot of things and suggest directions to try – it’s pretty cool.

One thing I don’t like is that if I want to use it then I’ll have to shift to using jupyter notebooks in VSCode, instead of directly in the browser. It’s just less clean and satisfying. But I want to give copilot a decent shot, so I’ll see how it goes.
